DESCRIPTION:

This meeting we will cover the Yield Link moment connection for mid-rise structural steel construction and the Strong-Frame special moment frame, which utilizes the Yield Link connection. Simpson has developed design tools to assist engineers when using the Yield Link connection following design procedures in AISC 358-16 Chapter 12. We will discuss the Yield-Link testing, software, and design concepts.

Vince Yang, P.E. is a Field Engineer for the Southwest region of the US and specializes in structural steel. He has been with Simpson for one year and has been educating engineers, architects, building officials, and contractors on design and product solutions for Simpson’s new structural steel product lines. Prior to joining Simpson, he worked as a structural engineering consultant for retail, commercial, and multifamily projects. He also worked for the International Code Council and was involved in writing ESR code reports and Acceptance Criteria for various products. He is a registered Professional Engineer in California and earned his B.S. from UC San Diego and his M.S. from CSU Long Beach.
